SERMON – Fifth Sunday of Easter – C

SERMON – Fifth Sunday of Easter – C

Christ is Risen, Alleluia! He is risen indeed, Alleluia! “Risen and Real”— Love That Remakes the World!

In a world that often feels divided, harsh, and uncertain, Jesus gives us a simple yet radical command: love one another. This love is not passive or sentimental—it is bold, justice-seeking, and boundary-breaking. It is a love that chooses hope, kindness, and compassion when it would be easier to turn away. It stands with the vulnerable, refuses to let fear or hatred define us, and chooses hope over despair when things feel overwhelming.

The readings from Acts 11:1-18, Revelation 21:1-6, and John 13:31-34 remind us that God’s love is transformative. In Acts, Peter witnesses the Holy Spirit falling upon the Gentiles, breaking down barriers and expanding the reach of God’s grace.

In Revelation, we see the promise of a new heaven and a new earth, where God dwells among God’s people, wiping away every tear and making all things new. And in John, Jesus gives us His new commandment—to love one another as He has loved us.

Jesus’ love was costly. It disrupted systems of violence and oppression, healed the broken, and refused to abandon even those who abandoned Him. To follow Jesus means to embody that love in the world—not just in words, but in action. This is how the world will recognize us—not by our beliefs, but by our love. They will know we are Christians by our LOVE.

So let us love fiercely and faithfully, until love remakes the world. Not just in comfort, but in courage.
